In a world of carbon fiber and titanium, the Ducati Superleggera V4 remains the undisputed pinnacle of road-legal engineering. Originally launched in 2020 as a strictly limited run of 500 numbered units, this "super-light" masterpiece continues to captivate collectors and enthusiasts as one of the most significant motorcycles ever built.

The bike’s defining achievement is its load-bearing structure—frame, subframe, swingarm, and wheels—all crafted entirely from carbon fiber. This diet results in a dry weight of just 159 kg, which further plummets to 152.2 kg when the included racing kit is fitted. Combined with a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine pushing 234 hp, the power-to-weight ratio stands at a staggering 1.54 hp/kg.

On track, the Superleggera V4 is more than just raw power. Its "biplane" winglets, derived from the GP16 MotoGP project, generate 50 kg of downforce at 168 mph, effectively pinning the front wheel to the tarmac and allowing for earlier acceleration out of corners.

As Ducati moves toward its centenary celebrations in 2026, with the newly announced Superleggera V4 Centenario pushing the envelope even further with 1,103cc and 250 hp, the 2020 model remains the legendary first of its kind—the original carbon-chassis pioneer that proved dreams could, in fact, be road-homologated.
